Our Thanksgiving this year was spent at my parents house and fairly small for us. Only 12 of us this year. It was nice and relaxed and couldn’t have been better. I take that back. My girls were out of their dad’s. I always miss them on the holidays. Sharing is hard!
I only got one food picture to share with you.
I made a cheese ball that included pineapple and pecans. I will share the recipe I adapted with you soon. It was so good! It went fast and I mourned the end of it today.
The rest of the spread was just as fantastic! Turkey and turkey gravy for the carnivores, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, cornbread casserole, green beans (with bacon, boo), stuffing, rolls, ambrosia salad, cucumber salad, cranberry salad, veggie/olive tray, pumpkin pie and chocolate cream pie.
After dinner, it was time to get down to business. The business of planning who is going where for Black Friday (& Thursday) sales!
Seven of us ten adults made our lists.
Then half of us bundled up and headed downtown to watch a Christmas lighting ceremony. This ceremony is kind of a big deal and people come from all over to see the lights. We had to hike in! So much traffic and multiple closed streets.
We got there about 30 minutes before the lights were due to be turned on. And then the countdown began and the cameras came out! Fellow bloggers?…
Lights and fireworks! And the discovery that I am really bad at taking pictures in the dark. Guess that’s no big surprise to anyone…
Tired girl. I don’t think she truly appreciated the occasion.
It was Hoppy’s first time. As well as the first time for my parents and my sister-in-law. I have no idea how they have lived here their entire lives and not been.
This ceremony has been an annual event for over 80 years and includes over 80 miles of lights! Beautiful.
This year I am most thankful for my family and getting to spend this holiday season with them.
I hope your Thanksgiving was just as relaxing as mine!
